INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST

Summary

You will serve as an entry-level/developmental Intelligence Specialist with responsibility to support acoustic intelligence (ACINT) activities for the command. You will perform specific assignments with tailored instructions, close supervision, and guidance. This position is located within the Submarine Warfare Operations Research Division (SWORD) of NIMITZ OPERATIONAL INTELLIGENCE CENTER in Suitland, Maryland.

Duties

You will generate reports on the acoustic aspect of tactical events involving foreign submarine forces and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) forces.

You will develop and utilize a basic understanding of methods for analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting raw acoustic intelligence (ACINT) data.

You will develop a familiarity of basic low frequency analysis and recording (LOFAR) gram analysis, oceanography, and target motion analysis.

You will learn how to exploit acoustic data using specialized signal processing and analysis equipment and software.

You will participate in developing, tailoring, preparing, and communicating routine acoustic reports and other products that represent the tactical picture of specific events from an acoustic perspective.

You will assist with preparing and presenting intelligence briefings to a variety of audiences.

Qualifications

GG-09 Specialized Experience Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-07 grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector . Specialized experience must demonstrate the following such as: Perform acoustic analysis on foreign naval platforms to include ships, submarines, aircraft, underwater sensors, and underwaters weapons systems; Demonstrate application of Target Motion Analysis (TMA) techniques to include the application of tactically relevant acoustic information; Develop acoustic reports and other products that represent the tactical picture of specific events; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to prepare and deliver tactical assessments. GG-07 Specialized Experience Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties such as: Assist in performing basic acoustic analysis on naval platforms, utilizing standard procedures and guidelines to identify signatures from ships, submarines, or underwater systems; Apply fundamental Target Motion Analysis (TMA) techniques under guidance to support broader tactical acoustic assessments; Contribute to the drafting of acoustic reports and support the compilation of data used to build the tactical picture of events; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to present preliminary findings and coordinate analytical efforts with team members.
