Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Operations (OO), Office of Security and Passport Operations (OSPO). The OSPO Passport Operations Branch provides services for obtaining official and diplomatic passports, visas, and country clearances. We are committed to working with agency employees to achieve the FDA travel mission in a courteous and timely manner.
Duties
Coordinate with senior staff and peers to evaluate and perform security-related functions of a very confidential, highly sensitive, and classified nature.
Ensure compliance with prescribed regulations, mandates, and procedures by assisting senior specialists with the development and implementation of identity, credential, and access management services.
Provides input into communication documents, presentations, and meetings.
Qualifications
The position of Security Specialist falls under the 0080 occupational series. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. GS-09: You must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07, in the Federal service, which includes: Assisting with or performing duties related to Personal Identity Verification (PIV) programs, identity credentialing, or personnel vetting activities, including sponsorship, enrollment, or verification of identification in accordance with applicable federal standards; Participating in or supporting on-site security inspections, facility assessments, or risk management activities to evaluate compliance with security standards and identify vulnerabilities, discrepancies, or corrective actions; Assisting in the development, implementation, or evaluation of security policies, procedures, or standard operating procedures (SOPs) in areas such as physical security, personnel security, or information security. -OR- Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, if related to the position being filled. -OR- A combination of specialized experience and education as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. Only graduate education in excess of 1 years (18 semester/27 quarter hours) may be used for this option. In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment.
