Summary
You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEER/COMPUTER SCIENTIST (PMA-264 Software Support Activity Lead) in the MISSION SYSTEMS GROUP and SOFTWARE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. The incumbent leads the PMA-264 acoustic software development in realizing the Aircraft Division and the NAVAIR Strategic Plan. The position supports the acoustic Program Related Engineering (PRE) software requirement on the P-8A. The duty location of this position is Patuxent River, MD..
Duties
You will ensure that the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services for software engineering.
You will communicate to the team the software engineering assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
You will recognize the need for and be able to adapt and implement algorithms and advanced system and software technology into practical Fleet software.
You will provide the focal point for the advanced software design concepts for a major weapon system or a common design concept area across several weapon systems and interoperability programs.
You will identify barriers to resolution of issues, establish gates and milestones necessary to resolve the issues prior to it impacting a program level milestone, and prioritize the importance and urgency of each issue.
You will represent the team in dealings with the leadership for the purpose of obtaining resources and securing needed information or decisions from the leadership on major work problems and issues that arise.
You will research, learn and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band (DP-04) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Contributing direct systems engineering/scientific and technical team leadership support to and advise the Chief Engineer on engineering requirements, technical issues, and risks related to software development; 2) Overseeing and supporting strategic technical planning for all activities; 3) Serving as a hardware/software technical interface to engineer/engineering community on related software engineering activities and issues; 4) Delivering technical oversight to integrate the Service Deficiency Reports (DR) priority backlog into the Program Increment (PI) priority workloads; and 5) Providing concurrence on contractor proposed changes to processes and Software (SW) development plans.
